M.I.N.D.S. Program

M.I.N.D.S., Motivating Individuals to New Directions of Success, was developed on the principle that our beliefs cause us to create or attract situations and/or events that we experience as our lives.  It is comprised of three core components: How to Stop the Violence, How to Secure Financial Success, and How to Achieve Optimum Personal Health.  Everything we hear, see, read, and experience is retained in our subconscious mind and combines to determine our beliefs.  What we consciously believe about ourselves is displayed thorough our behavior.  It has been stated that all human problems are behavioral problems – therefore if we can become conscious an aware of our beliefs, our thoughts and our experiences, we can reverse the damage done by the media outlets to our children, and ourselves and change our behaviour.  And by changing the behavior of the masses, we change the course of history.

Poster5Before closing the doors to Spunky’s, the club I owned in Dayton from 1980 to 1995, I opened a doorway to the mind by developing the M.I.N.D.S. Program.  The music had begun to change; aggressive new styles of rap and hip-hop were quickly emerging into the mainstream.  I noticed a shift in people’s attitudes and behaviour, and the way they interacted with one another. Words like ‘posse’ and songs like “Get Rich by An Means Necessary” became incorporated into everyday life – not just in conversation, but the way people gathered and conducted themselves.  Fights becan go break out, five or six against one, and I found myself having to increase security at the door and, later, even inside the club.

During the late 1980s, however, I began to experience a different kind of cancer.

Utilizing television, radio, movies, print, video games and the Internet, the gangster hip-hop culture, intentionally or unintentionally, began to destroy the core principles of life: respect, honesty, truth, integrity, caring and pride. This culture conditioned and programmed young people for failure.

The attitudes and behavior I witnessed within the club seemed to be in direct correlation with the messages of the music, and I saw it as a kind of cultural/mental cancer, taking hold of the community and rapidly multiplying. I tried to address it within the club by not letting the DJs play certain types of music—or only playing instrumental versions—but it seemed to be unstoppable.

The gangster hip-hop culture has been the most devastating cultural trend designed to destroy a people.

The people in power are the persuaders; the people without power simply act on the images and commands that are directed their way. Intelligent and educated people are aware of Pavlov’s research and findings on the fundamentals of conditioning. We are like Pavlov’s dogs responding to all the trends and messages that are sent our way. Blacks make up 12% – 15% of the population, earn 6% of the money, but buy 31% of cosmetics, 38% of cigarettes and 39% of alcohol sold. This isn’t happening by accident. In 2012, in one Chicago school district, 245 students were shoot to death. How and why is this happening? Are the guns killing people or is it the psychological programming and conditioning of the minds that is influencing such behavior?
